C2-Friday

Today was the last full day of camp, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather! The sky was blue as anything and the sun was out the whole day. By the afternoon, the breeze picked up to cool off the humid weather. Campers enjoyed their final Classes and final Sports & Swim. Tonight’s Dance was another success and the campfire afterwards was a good time to unwind and relax with all our new friends. It was a great way to conclude a Session full of lots of fun and spirit. We’ll miss the great times we had at Session C 2010, but they will continue in our memories and of course, through Facebook! Until we meet again SVC. Thanks to everyone for the good times. Safe travels and God Bless!

C2-Thursday

We finally got the long anticipated rain today. Luckily, it only showered for a little bit and we were still able to enjoy most of the day. We received a visit from our Primate Archbishop Khajag Barsamian just after lunch and got to spend the afternoon with him. After taking a group picture with him, Srpazan had a chance to address the group and answer any questions the campers had for him. We also received a visit from some of our Heritage class characters, Mesrob Mashdots, Princess Khosrovidukht, and St. Gregory, who shared some words with Srpazan and told him what a pleasure it was to meet the youth of the Eastern Diocese. We continued the afternoon as scheduled and Srpazan got to visit the different classes.
The Evening Program for tonight was the second Talent Show. This week was filled with just as many entertaining and talent-filled acts as last week’s talent show. We enjoyed the different dances performed, the songs played and sung, and especially the Oldest Teen Boys act: “Who’s smarter than an Oldest Teen Boy?” Everyone is getting excited for tomorrow night’s dance and campfire, but is also getting sad that camp is almost over. Here’s to the next 2 days!

C2-Wednesday

In the morning, the weather looked like it would surely rain, but by the time breakfast was over the sun was out shining! That meant that one of the highlights of the camp experience, the CIT Hunt, was still on! We welcomed Fr. Aved Terzian this morning, who will be teaching Religion classes along with Fr. Shnork. During Heritage today, the campers were introduced to St. Gregory, King Dertad, and Princess Khosrovidukht. After classes were over, the CIT Hunt commenced. The campers had a blast following the clues left by their CITs that led to their hiding place. Once the CITs were found, the campers brought them to the designated area for the famous shaving cream battle! Everyone had a great time and got completely covered in shaving cream. Afterwards, everyone got sprayed down and we enjoyed an outdoor barbeque for dinner as we dried off. The Evening Program was put together by the Oldest Teens and was made up of different stations including Step-Up (dancing), Around the World in 80 Days (trivia), a Fortune Telling room, a Snack Table, an Obstacle Course, and Karaoke in the rec hall. The campers had a great time and the Oldest Teens worked together really well to make it an enjoyable event!

C2-Tuesday

Today was Buddy Day! Junior Girls were paired up with Teen Girls and Junior Boys with Teens Boys. The Buddies followed a special schedule for the day going to Sports, Swim, and Classes together. We welcomed Fr. Shnork Souin and Mr. Stepan Piligian today. Mr. Piligian will be teaching the Heritage classes for the next few days with his interactive curriculum about our Armenian culture. During the afternoon classes, campers met Mesrob Mashdots and King Dikran (Ara Genj and Ali G). The campers were able to have a Q&A Session with the characters and really learned a lot. The Evening Program was a big game of Scategories, with teams made up of the different Buddy Groups. The weather was teasing for rain all day, but luckily we had another dry day. Let’s hope it stays dry for the CIT Hunt tomorrow!
Happy Birthday to Sebouh and Robert!!

C2-Monday

We were back to our normal schedule today with Classes in the morning and Sports & Swimming in the afternoon for Teens this week and the reverse for Juniors. The weather in the morning had the looks of rain, but by late morning/early afternoon the sun was out shining! Today was also the first full day for our C2 campers. Tonight’s Evening Program was a spin-off of the Newlywed Game called “The Roommate Game.” Each group picked the two roommates who they felt knew the most about each other to compete. Questions were asked such as, “What is your roommates favorite Armenian food, Badarak hymn, eye color,” etc. The winners for the Juniors were Oldest Junior Girls Ali and Carolyn and the winners for the Teens were Youngest Teen Girls Claudia and Rose. Way to go girls!

C2-Sunday

This morning began with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy in our chapel. It truly was a joyous occasion as all voices came together in worship, from the young men serving as deacons to the entire congregation singing the hymns of the Badarak. Afterwards, we had brunch and then began Day 2 of the Olympics. Today’s events consisted of a big a relay race that was held throughout the entire campus, including activities such as basketball and soccer shootouts, potato sack and wheelbarrel races, leap frog, swimming, and more! The Red team prevailed as the winners of the SVC Session C Olympics. Following the Olympics was the Staff vs. CIT Dodgeball game. The campers cheered on the sidelines and were the officials for the game. The game ended in a 1-1 tie with the deciding game tentatively scheduled to happen within the next week. The evening ended with a camp-wide campfire including smores, stories, and games. It was a great weekend full of activities and fun for the entire camp with beautiful weather to help us through. Everyone is excited for the next week to come!
